London W1 | Project Case Study – Complex VRF Installation & Lift & Shift

This month’s works in London W1 pushed both planning and execution standards delivered successfully across a live environment with zero compromise on safety or performance.

We supported a major install involving multiple unit removals and replacements, alongside a precision lift and shift of a VR6 unit. All works were carried out within an operational site, requiring tight coordination, controlled lifting, and strict adherence to compliance frameworks.

Scope Highlights

• Full strip out and installation of multiple HVAC units within an active workspace
• Lift & shift relocation of VR6 outdoor unit
• Refrigerant recovery, pipework modification, and full recommissioning

Execution Overview
We began by establishing a controlled working environment:

• Lifting operations configured to spec, including counterbalance verification
• Exclusion zones implemented with defined access/egress routes
• Full electrical isolation and validation procedures completed

From there, the technical sequence was delivered methodically:

• Refrigerant pump down and recovery in line with F-Gas Regulations
• Safe disconnection of pipework and electrics, ensuring contamination prevention
• Controlled lift using strops and shackles, followed by precise relocation onto a prepared, level base

System Reconfiguration

• Pipework cut, cleaned, brazed, and reinsulated
• Nitrogen pressure testing completed to verify system integrity
• Condensate drainage modified to maintain correct fall and performance

Final Commissioning

• System evacuation to required vacuum levels with standing test
• Refrigerant recharge to manufacturer specification
• Full commissioning checks completed (pressures, temperatures, system performance)

Close-Out

• All lifting equipment safely dismantled and removed
• Waste cleared, site left clean, safe, and fully operational
